What Is Difference Between Hunting camera with 850nm VS 940nm IR?

No matter if you’re new to the deer hunting camera or not, some of you may still be wondering when you saw the description says ‘’850nm IR’’ and ‘’940nm IR’’. They are the 2 typical types of infrared led wavelengths built in the hunting camera with night vision. The infrared LEDs will illuminate the lighting to help capture objects in black and white colors when there is no glow available.

Most of the trail cam in the market employ 850nm IR LED because it can provide a brighter glow than the 940nm unit in the same lighting condition. The reason why we called 850nm‘’ low glow led’’ is that humankind or some animal can see the red light in a slight glow when the camera was triggered in darkness. The light is so weak to scare the shooting targets, but it can still provide clear black and white images for you.

Compared to the 850nm, the 940nm has 30%~40% less effective ad covers a shorter range when emitting the light over distance. Humans or some animals can’t detect the 940nm IR led completely by naked eyes, so we also called it invisible light or no glowing light. 

The 850 IR take more selling portion in the past years. However, no glow infrared trail cam also getting more popular when used as a surveillance monitor because it will not be noticed by most species.
